How to compare two phone plans in one afternoon
Write the same four lines for each plan and pick the lower one that matches. This is a shopping pass, not advice about which carrier to use.

Write the same four lines for each
Open the two plan pages side by side. Write four lines for each: monthly price after any intro discount ends, data limit, hotspot allowance, and the price of the phone if it is tied to the plan. Use the same four lines for both. If one page hides a number, call it out and leave the line blank.
This is a shopping afternoon. It is not advice about which carrier to choose, what coverage you need, or whether a plan is a good deal for your use. If the amount would change a phone you need this week, decide that first and then run the four lines.
Match the numbers, then the price
Cross out any plan that fails a line you already need: unlimited data if you use it, hotspot if you work from the phone, or a phone price you can pay. Of the plans that match, the lower monthly price after the intro ends is the one to keep.
- Write the four lines for plan A on the left half of a page.
- Write the four lines for plan B on the right half.
- Circle any line that does not match a need you already have.
- If both match, circle the lower monthly price after any promo ends. Write that number at the top.
Check the fine print once
Look for the activation fee, the early termination or upgrade lock, and whether the promo requires autopay or paperless. Write those three next to the price. If one plan adds a fee the other does not, add it to the monthly number before you decide.
Do not start a new comparison site. The two pages you already opened have the numbers. A third quote is a different afternoon.
What this afternoon is not
Do not call the retention line until you have the four lines written. The call is how a different offer starts. Do not switch because the ad showed a lower number for the first three months. And do not treat a “free phone” as free if the plan price rises to pay for it.
Add the chosen plan name and the monthly number to the same page as your Sunday money check. When the first bill arrives, you already know which line to match.
